Tsuge takes pipes very seriously. The make a series of machine made pipes that are distributed primarily in Japan. But they are best known for their "Ikebana" series of hand carved pipes. Many of these are carved by the distinguished Mr. Fukuda, who studied with Sixten Ivarsson. These pipes take their inspiration from Danish designs, and use the same materials and methods as the great Danish makers. But frequently, the Ikebana pipes embody the Japanese esthetic as well, which in its deliberate simplicity and artfulness combined with superb quality of execution, is wholly compatible with Danish sensibilities. The result is some of the finest pipes made today.
