Tokutomi of Japan

Hiro Tokutomi is another student of Sixten Ivarsson. His esthetic is more distinctly Japanese than that of Tsuge, and owes a great deal to his study of graphic arts and of Japanese miniature carving, called "Netsuke." As a  result, his pipes tend to have a sculptural complexity that is very sophisticated and dramatic, with remarkable use of grain in relationship to shape. He's rightly regarded as among the world's best carvers.
