Former for Larsen c. 1965 Tanshell Canadian
A very early sandblasted Canadian, most likely cut and finished by Former. It has a brandy-like bowl whose rear surface flows downward to meet the long oval shank, whose shape is completed by one of Former's excellent handcut taper bit. The blast is surprisingly deep and crisp, and the color is a rich tanshell.

This pipe bespeaks Sven Knudsen's design sensibility, representing a distinctly Danish variation on the classical Canadian shape. Former learned this lessons well from his friend and teacher. It was carefully smoked by its one previous owner, and is in excellent condition.
