A brilliant rendering of the classic billiard as refracted through Dunhill's sensibilities. It has a "chubby" profile, with sensual bowl and stout shank. Indeed, it looks more like a Shape 127 than the typical shape 59. The briar is densely grained, and shows the rich luminous color of the best Bruyeres. The hand cut taper bit is substantial and impressive in its workmanship. Under a high power loupe, it appears that some adjustment may have been made to the last 1 mm of the shank, presumably to improve the fit at the shoulder of the bit, compensating for a time-related loss of diameter. However, the finish and color are superb so if this was done it was almost certainly by Dunhill. A fine patent Dunhill from the Golden Age.
