Peter Brakner, like Celius, was something of a wild man who passed through the Poul Rasmussen/Suhr workshop on his way to becoming a well-respected pipe maker in his own right. He developed a special technique for "micro-rustication" which he called the Antique finish, as seen in this pipe. It lends considerable visual interest to the surface of the wood, and also helps increase the surface area for heat radiation. Unfortunately, the secret for this technique died with him. Brakner was also known for his excellent handcut vulcanite bits, which he marked with a green dot.
Here we have a large and handsome classic Dublin in good Group 5 capacity. It is in first rate condition, and would certainly become a favorite pipe in your rotation.
