Charatan c. 1958 "Selected" Bent Dublin
An early Lane-era "FH" piece, this shows Charatan at its most elegant and refined. Indeed, one could easily see Teddy producing a pipe much like this. It has a rather tall cylindrical bowl with a rounded bottom, and a long pencil shank that emerges at angle (with nice articulation) to meet the handcut vulcanite saddle bit--no "Double Comfort" here. The graining is everything one would expect of a "Selected," as is the color and quality of execution. It has a small Group 4 capacity, and would be a superb pipe for either Virginias or English mixtures. It's in outstanding condition, with especially clear nomenclature.
