Charatan c. 1950 Pre Lane Stout Shank Dublin/Liverpool 
A very dignified, beautifully executed Dublin variation, cut from a first rate, large block of straight grained Algerian briar. The bowl has thick walls, a rim covered in birdseye, and a generous ODA capacity, and together with the extended and rather stout shank, is covered with excellent straight grain that in later years would surely have been designated as a Supreme. Curiously, the flat underside of the shank and heel show a patch of rustication, presumably because a scattering of sandpits, characteristic of wood from this region, were found during the finishing process. I find that this adds to the not inconsiderable charm of the pipe.

It's in first rate condition, apart from the usual missing "CP" on the stem.
