Charatan c. 1940 Selected "Giant" Shape 43
One can only suspect that Charatan was responding to their old rival Dunhill in creating the so-called Giant series, all of which carry a 4X shape number. Indeed, this is an impressive ODA sized classic Dublin, whose graining, in later years, would easily have qualified it as a Supreme or Supreme S. The longish tubular shank is slightly wasp-waisted, attesting to its being hand carved. The nomenclature is crisp, and the pipe in otherwise excellent condition, but the CP is missing. Sic transit gloria mundi.
