It's hard to avoid the conclusion that Dunhill was copying an earlier Barling shape when viewing this pipe. It's a stunning pipe, cut from an exemplary piece of old Algerian briar, naturally finished, and showing remarkable grain. The shape is notably elegant and very modern, especially for its era. Note the gracious curve around the front of the bowl, and how the extended, tapered shank continues the line from the bottom of the heel. Has a long, wonderfully refined taper bit. An extraordinary pipe in superb condition.
