This is one of the more elegant and refined Celius pipes I have seen, yet still with great flair and imagination. It has a tall, relatively narrow Dublin bowl with a rounded bottom, from which a beautifully shaped tubular shank emerges with good definition between shank and bowl. On the left side, the grain is stunning--dense, symmetrical, and running both from the heel to the rim, and also along the shank--perfectly cut. The other side is respectable enough for the Queen grade, though not quite so dense. It has a plateaux top, and one of Celius's typical handcut and faceted taper bit with lathe-turned ornament. Condiiton is superb.
